Notes About Using Live3D

  • Quickly Animating To Viewpoints (10.24.96)

  • Setting Up ANIMATE TO VIEWPOINTS (10.20.96)
  • To get the full experience from the preset viewpoints, you need to make sure that your Live3D plugin has the ANIMATE TO VIEWPOINTS set to ON. To make sure, complete the following:

  • Using the WRZ Extension (10.20.96)
  • We have now moved to using the .wrz extension to describe a .wrl file that has been GZIP'ed, for which Live3D has a built-in decompressor.

If you are using a Macintosh, you will need to manually set this extension in the Options -> General Preferences -> Helpers. It should look like this:

  • How To Keep From Crashing Live3D, Netscape 3.0, and Your Computer (10.1.96)
  • There seems to be a fatal bug in Live3D which occurs if you reload a page with a VRML (.wrl) file in it (or consisting of it.) Reload the page 5-10 times, and you will get a system crash (on a Mac), and/or Netscape crashing (on a PC).

SOLUTION: Say you are trying to work with foo.wrl. Open up foo.wrl with Netscape/Live3D Plugin. Then open a NEW WINDOW in Netscape using File -> New Web Browser. In this new window, open foo.wrl or any .wrl file.

Basically, we will keep one window open with a .wrl, keeping the Live3D plugin loaded. Then when we reload foo.wrl in a second window, the Live3D plugin will not keep unloading/loading, which seems to cause the crashing.

  • How To Use GZIP with Netscape/Live3D (10.1.96)
  • The picture on the homepage http://www.calculus.net/vrml is normally 88k, but when GZIP'ed (compressed) first, it is only 9k.

Live3D can unGZIP on the fly, but here is how you do it (this is for creators, not necessarily just for readers): With foo.wrl
